                     Lurking

“His mouth is full of cursing and deceit and fraud: under his tongue is mischief and vanity.

He sitteth in the lurking places of the villages: in the secret places doth he murder the innocent: his eyes are privily set against the poor.

He lieth in wait secretly as a lion in his den: he lieth in wait to catch the poor: he doth catch the poor, when he draweth him into his net.

He croucheth, and humbleth himself, that the poor may fall by his strong ones.”

Long Island detectives were today searching a desolate beach where four bodies, in advanced stages of decomposition, have been found over the past three days.

The remains were discovered on Jones beach, a barrier island to the east of New York City. They were buried in the sand about 460 metres
(1,508ft) apart, close to a road, over a period of 18 months.

Police suspect they may have a serial killer on their hands. "Common sense tells us it's not a coincidence," Gerard Pelkofsky, of the Suffolk County homicide team, told Newsday.

The first body was discovered between Cedar and Gilgo beaches by an officer who was out combing the area with his police dog, Blue, on Saturday. They were searching for 24-year-old Shonnan Gilbert, who went missing in May.
